[at the very least he can understand how being at Saltburnt kind of frees someone from the pressures that they have to deal with back home. It comes with it's own kinds of problems, but there are plenty of resources here and fewer monster attacks in general.]

no, that makes sense.

i don't think it's something you can really comprehend until it's happened.

it was sort of gradual. The government knew about monsterization for awhile but didn't say anything about it until it was too widespread to hide anymore.

They told us to stay inside and declared a state of emergency. We still had access to TV and stuff at first and they told us how to detect monsters and fight them, but after the president changed on live TV we were kind of on our own.
