[you know what, he was going to ignore the room number like a spiteful brat, but now heâs changed his mind. He doesnât follow the text up with anything else, he just shows up at the indicated room, andâŠwell, presumably since he was invited the door isnât locked so he just lets himself in.
But heâs pretty agitated about it.
And his eyes are currently an eerie blue, color so how much is he still himself may be up for debate.]
[ eunhyuk's sitting by the window, soaking up the sunlight, a juice box in one hand and the outdated iphone in the other. he looks very comfy, actually. and very alive. ]
Ah, it's you. You made good time, that's good. Did you get to bring anything with you, when you got here?
[ he doesn't miss the change in the eyes. bright blue instead of the bleedout black. is this the next level to the transformation? he has to recreate his notes. ]
[Fuck, it really is him. Lee Eunhyuk. Infuriating, as always, even with the vague sense of relief somewhere in the back of Hyunsu's mind. He itches to lash out at him somehowâwith his wing or a fist, preferablyâbut he holds back for now, for some reason that heâs not in a rush to examine too closely.
He huffs indignantly.]
Thatâs all you have to say? "Hello, Hyunsu" and "She's free to think what she wants." [He tilts his head, approaching him slowly for a better look.] What about you? Are you still you? Werenât you showing symptoms?
[ he's considered it. that this is what awaits a person after death - a mockery of the living conditions he and eunyu had to suffer, with its overabundance of everything. he doesn't answer right away, just stares hyunsu with the self-same eyes that had, before, cut through a softer and less steadfast version of the man in front of him. ]
I have a few hours before the next nosebleed. The fever is gone, though. I'm not sure why.
[ he has a suspicion. some kind of quiet had disturbs him, but he can feel his body healing. ]
Dying may have slowed the progress. I imagine even you would have trouble with transformation after crashing a building on yourself.
[Hyunsu isnât sure, really. After all that lab had more or less collapsed on him and he transformed just fine. Then again heâd already undergone his first full transformation. But he really doesnât have the patience or inclination to discuss the finer points of monster transformation, especially not with Eunhyuk.
Besides, he get distracted by that last question.]
Hm?
[He has to think for a moment, his gaze going distant as he thinks back to that night. The memories from when his more human side was in control are always a little fuzzy.]
They all got out of Green Home. Yes.
[Past that, itâs harder to say. Hyunsu really only interacted with Yi-Kyeong and Eunyu afterward, and Eunyu he only started interacting with directly very recently.]
[ he finishes the juice box and gets up on his feet; he's dressed about as plainly as he used to back in green home, only the cotton pants are a vastly more premium quality, and the plain tee is incredibly tailored without being too fitted. this whole place reeks of money, and eunhyuk is a little bothered by it.
hyunsu looks good. hair is still a mess, but it's shorter than he last remembers, and the eyesââ it takes some getting used to. ]
If you're staying with someone else you should tell them you've changed your mind.
[Sang-Wook is a predictable guy. He keeps to himself in almost all aspects of the manor: the parties, the breakfast banquets, the strange seedy underbellies... Much like his life in Korea, his life in (supposedly, allegedly) mystical England is not much different. Only, he's not killing people. He's not getting his hands dirty in the ways he used to. Green Home had put him on the path to be better, try harder, maybe be a little more human. It's just â too bad everything fell apart in the end.
Sang-Wook tries very, very hard not to think about it for long. It's been his tried and true way to not fall into a pit of despair, the way he'd done with his home and family, and the foster system that had haphazardly moved him around after.
Anyway. He minds his own business, mostly.
But when familiar faces come along, it's impossible to stay in one's lane. He's outside with the very last remains of a cigarette burning between his fingertips (he un-quit) when he swears his eye catches someone he knows. He turns slightly, wanders further inward in the garden area, matching quiet footfalls.
He just wants to see. Maybe he's going crazy, or maybe the manor is just tricking him.
But he has quite literally nothing to lose in making sure. In his opinion.]
[Hyunsu is not exactly as he was the last time Sang-wook saw him. He's bulked up some and walks with more confidence. He's also more aware of his surroundings. Over a year of fighting monsters and learning his abilities has honed his senses some. He knows when he's being followed or approached. Even more so at the moment with the monster part of him more in control of his consciousness than the human part.
He turns to face Sang-Wook and as soon as he registers the face, his wing is out, ready to fight.]
You.
[Probably not the greeting Sang-wook might have expected, but sadly Hyunsu isn't seeing Sang-wook right now, he's seeing Jung Ui-Myeong. He hasn't noticed the burns on his face.]
You looking to finish things?
[Sang-wook may notice his eyes are a bright, eerie blue rather than his natural brown.]
Why can't it be both? Have you gotten attached to someone? Is it a new girlfriend?
[ they're being way too casual with one another, even considering their mutual history. but what of it? eunhyuk already died, and hyunsu's paid up on good deeds. maybe this is what it looks like for the two of them to talk like normal people. ]
You've moved on, then. I understand. It's been a year, like you said.
[Hyunsu's lips quirk upward at the corner slightly.]
So you're attached to me? Touching.
[It's really just stubbornness and spite that's fueling this. And not even spite toward Eunhyuk, if Hyunsu were to be really honest with himself. It's spite toward himself. Toward the soft, human part of him that has always bent so easily to the will of others. He can't let himself cave too easily.]
[It must've been a while since Hyunsu saw him last. This place, it does weird things. Pulls people from weird places. He can tell the kid is not the same as he was... that whatever that guy was doing to him, putting in his head? Was making him different. That guy... that probably shot them. Shot Yu-Ri, who didn't deserve that kind of inhumane treatment. Like a dog being put down.
Him? Sure. Her? Churns his stomach.
Sang-Wook should probably be a little more careful, but when has he ever been particularly careful when it came to his own safety? And would it really matter here, when he's already dead back home? Either way, he walks toward Hyunsu and his big scary wing, scowling a little, the mostly-gone cigarette getting flicked aside on the lawn.]
'Finish things'...? [He sound skeptical, then slightly annoyed. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that Hyunsu'd been blinded by the alikeness of that Ui-Myeong guy. But it doesn't mean he's not salty about it, when he thinks of the coldness behind Hyunsu's final words to him. He mumbles at himself more than Hyunsu:] 'Finish things'. You're the one who acted like a little punk...
[By now, Hyunsu can probably make out the burns, as he stops unwisely close to the other.]
Sure. We'll finish it.
Edited (i needed a more menacing icon for this stupid reply) 2024-09-27 01:47 (UTC)
[Okay, that is 100% not what he was expecting and it really takes the wind out of him, metaphorically speaking.]
What the fuck?
[He barely notices the sting of the forehead flick, honestly. His pain tolerance is absurd at this point, and he heals even faster than before besides. But it still makes him pause.
And stare.
His human memories are fuzzy and fleeting right now, but he knows the last time he saw this face it was healed and free of scars. And now it's not. This is the man Cha Hyunsu patrolled the halls of Green Home with before everything went to shit. It seems his body is his own again.]
A few hours. I haven't gotten the separation anxiety yet.
[ a few hours since he'd lied to eunyu. a few hours since he'd sent them all through the tunnels so he could blow up the building in peace, make sure everything they had to bury would stay buried and give hyunsu a fighting chance. it might've been the only truly brave thing he's ever done. ]
[It's said with as much derision and sarcasm as he can muster, which is honestly quite a lot considering the part of him thatâs in control. And yet there might still be some ring of truth to it.]
Except, obviously not really. Heâs been thoroughly and repeatedly traumatized or else this side of him wouldnât be in control. But thatâs beside the point.]
It's Eunyu whoâs been lost. Sheâs been searching for you everywhere.
[ i was dead. good as, really, in the end. why would she still keep looking for him? the building crashing down on him while he was in the basement should have been pretty final.
just conveniently forgetting he lied to her in the end, there. it's fine. they've never been good at closure. ]
Sang-Wook looks more confused than anything. For one thing? Hyunsu's eyes are blue, which he should find more unsettling than the fully black eyes â not the case. For another thing... well. There's a lot he's not privy to, being dead (in his own personal opinion, anyway).]
